I think making the input fields disabled when LFM is deactivated is good but I would still always show them.
The edit button approach will work fine, although I would name that button "save" or something like that instead (edit button usually puts something in 'edit mode' rather than directly save the changes).
I think a quick mockup would be helpful to visualize all this, in my mind it could be achieved by adding a save button after the inputs, but your suggestions are interestingg
