I also didn't know actually how to use it properly, but if you just want to copy relationship from specific one recording to one or more recordings, this method should work:

* Click destination recording's checkbox
* open "Clone recording relations to selected recordings"
* paste  source's /recording/ link to " OR recording link:" text box and wait until text field's background color is changed to green
* Apply
